Dan McEwan

President & Chief Manager

Having effectively led two companies through significant growth, Dan McEwan utilized his experience and leadership in founding Maximum Hospitality in 2001 and quickly proved his ability to effectively steer the company to become an award-winning company that has managed more than $500 million in hotel assets. Dan’s experience in finance, investments, real estate development and hotel management prepared him to view the hospitality industry and its inherent cycles from varied perspectives.

He began his hotel industry career in 1995, after co-founding a successful investment firm and tripling the annual revenues of a second firm over two years. At Development Services Group, Dan used his financial background to work closely with owners, contractors and lenders on more than twenty hotel development projects.

As a hotel owner with numerous third-party management relationships, Dan immersed himself in the operational side of the business after perceiving a void in the hospitality management industry, which led to Maximum Hospitality’s beginnings and the company’s philosophy, “To manage properties as if we were the Owner.”

Dan graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi with a B.A. and received his M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University. He presently serves on the board of the Neighborhood Christian Centers; Memphis University School Alumni Board; Memphis Gridiron Ministries; and is an elder at Independent Presbyterian Church.

Paul WestPaul West

Executive Vice President & Principal

Paul West has deep experience in all phases of hotel operations, sales and marketing, food and beverage, and high volume nightclubs. He is experienced in takeovers, new openings and brand repositioning. After a lengthy career as a high-end full service general manager, Paul spent 10 years as regional director of operations with RFS, Inc., overseeing the operations of the majority of their full-service portfolio.

Educated in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration, Paul has enhanced his learning through Professional Selling Skills, Dale Carnegie Managing Through People, and Professional Dynametric Programs. During his successful career, Paul has managed numerous hotels for a diverse variety of brands: Le Méridien, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites, Residence Inn by Marriott, as well as several independent and boutique hotels. Paul also served as executive director for a 70,000 square foot convention facility and has managed many high volume nightclubs.

Since the Starwood/Marriott merger, Paul has served on the Marriott Integration Advisory Board to assist in providing direction for the combined brands. He has also been an involved member of the Advisory Board for Starwood Select Service Brands. Properties under his direction have won: Four Points by Sheraton Hotel of the Year, three times with different properties; Four Points by Sheraton Sales Team of the Year; Residence Inn by Marriott Sales Team of the Year; Residence Inn by Marriott Employee of the Year, and the Residence Inn by Marriott True North Award. Paul is also an Addy Award winner for Best of Show and Best of Radio for nightclub marketing campaigns. Paul is the past president of the State YMCA of Kentucky and is a Certified Arbitrator.


Brent Scarbro

Vice President of Sales & Principal

Brent Scarbro has over 25 years of extensive, multi-brand experience in the hotel industry, with a proven track record of leadership and award winning performance. Brent has experience in opening and managing REIT hotels, owned and managed properties, and third-party contracts. Brent has also worked in numerous markets, including Cincinnati, Chicago, Knoxville, Nashville and Tampa.

Brent achieved success early in his career as he became general manager of a full-service, landmark hotel in Cincinnati, winning the Platinum Award for attaining a top 3% score in guest satisfaction within all brands, while producing the highest increase in revenues and controllable earnings. Brent later worked with Winegardner & Hammonds and was a vital part of several successful hotel conversions and takeovers, along with managing several major product improvement processes. Having opened two full service Marriott properties, he helped the property achieve the AAA Four Diamond rating, along with a Top 10 rating for Marriott Hotels and Resorts  in guest satisfaction for five straight years. He received Starwood’s “Hotel of the Year,” as well as the Tiffany Award for three consecutive years, signifying the highest guest satisfaction ratings. Additionally, Brent and his team moved the hotel to score within the Top 5 properties worldwide for all Starwood brands.

As a respected member of the Le Meridien Advisory Board, he has worked closely in shaping numerous brand initiatives. Brent is an active member of the Board of Directors-Hillsborough County Hotel/Motel Association, the Advisory Board for Visit Tampa Bay, and the Advisory Board for Retail Hospitality and Tourism Management (RHTM) for the Univ. of TN. Brent graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BBA, and was a recipient of the Greater Cincinnati Hotel/Motel Association Scholarship.
